weekly wrap up #2 // 1 month anniversary??

Another week, another wrap up. I wish I could say I was productive this week but let’s be real – I definitely wasn’t. I did, however, read one book this week so I guess that counts? More on that later. Also, I pre-ordered Chain of Iron (the second book in the last hours trilogy by Cassandra Clare) from an online store that was not Amazon. SUPPORT 👏🏽 YOUR 👏🏽 INDIE 👏🏽 STORES👏🏽. If you live in India, you should definitely check them out. The store is called Books N Beyond.

Anyway, we have two things to celebrate. I hit two milestones for this blog. 🥳 Literary Delirium now has 50 amazing followers ❤️ and it is also officially a month old. 🤧 Thank you so much for supporting me and my blog and huge shoutout to all the amazing people I met here. I wish I could put into words how much your support means to me but I can’t right now. 😭

Okay, so back to the updates – yes I only read one book which sucks cause I usually manage to read at least three a week or sometimes even seven.

READ THIS WEEK

Dear Ava by Ilsa Madden – Mills

So, I only started this book because two of my friends were reading it and kept telling me how emotional the ending was. Obviously because I have FOMO, I picked it up. Really regretting that decision. Can you rate a book you didn’t finish? ✨ This was a solid DNF ✨. I got through about 84% of this book before throwing in the towel. Nope, can’t sit through that. *This book deals with rape so please keep that in mind before reading it* This might actually be a long review but I’m not dedicating a separate post to talking about this. If you’re going to pick a sensitive topic like rape, maybe try to handle it right?

I hated how the author incorporated this topic into the book. When a character goes through something like that, you expect to feel more of an emotional connection. I honestly just hated her. She gets more and more annoying as the book progresses. I did have a better emotional connection with Knox, but that’s it. There’s nothing interesting about him. His whole personality is literally him being there for his brother. I was really looking forward to the whole ‘Secret Admirer’ aspect of the book but again, it was not done well. His identity was obvious from the first letter. There was no mystery which really sucks cause that probably would’ve elevated this book a little bit. Also, I didn’t like the writing. I’m sorry if I’m being harsh but I’m not going to mislead anyone here.

CURRENT READS

I’m almost halfway through this book and holy shit – this is amazing. I’m planning on finishing this in the next few days so that I can pick up the new Jude and Cardan book. I’m aware of the fact that I said I might not be reading much fantasy in the next few months but desperate times call for desperate measures. Anyway, I can’t wait to finish this. Potential favourite?

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

This week’s quote is from one of my all time favourite series, which is also extremely underrated. I might do a reread in the next few months so I can give you guys a proper review but we’ll see.

“True power was the ability to bend others to your will while they thought the bending was their own idea.”

– The Devil’s Thief by Lisa Maxwell (The Last Magician #1)

SONG OF THE WEEK

I prefer the acoustic version of this song over the actual one. It’s literally so beautiful.

That’s it’s for this week (:
I’d love to know what books you’re reading and if you have any recommendations, please leave in the comments and I’ll check those books out.

Until next week✌️

congrats on hitting 50 followers!! that’s freaking awesome! and happy one-month birthday literary delirium 🥳

honestly, i don’t like the thought of dear ava. if you’re going to talk about rape, then talk about it like the heavy, pressing issue it is, and don’t take it lightly.

i can’t wait to read these violent delights, its been on my tbr forEVER!! congratulations once again ❤❤

    1. thank you so much 😭💓 omg it’s so cool that we have the same taste in music haha i love that and yeah i order from booksnbeyond pretty often and they have some great stuff (: yes exactly rape is a pretty heavy topic and if you’re writing about it then you should do it justice if you know what i mean. i know that sounds wrong but idk how to put it into words haha

  4. Wow, ha ha, I’m impressed. I’ve been blogging for…four months by now? And I don’t have 50 followers yet (I’m sooooo close. 47!!!).
Hmm that book doesn’t look too good…maybe I’m judging a book by a cover but it looks like a romance right off the bat and I don’t like straight up romance much….also ugh a book that doesn’t deal with rape well? That’s awful, rape is SUCH a serious problem.

Ooh. I’ve seen a LOT of people really interested in These Violent Delights. Again, it’s a romance so I’m not sure how much I like it but it does look interesting…. (I’m also reading Romeo and Juliet in school right now–this is a retelling, right? Though it’s probably more interesting since I can’t exactly read Shakespeare very well, ha)

Anyways, great post and I can’t wait to see more of your blog!
